Theodoros Antonellos

Captain
Greek

Captain Theodoros was born and raised in Greece by a family with tradition and history in shipping. He was naturally inclined to follow this career and joined the Naval Academy straight after school. His sea service started in 1991 and from December 1999, Theodoros has served as a captain for shipping companies. He has cruised all around the world including the Caribbean, Indian Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Japan, Korea, US, Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Over the past 3 years, he has returned back to his passion, sailing yachts, and the last passage took him from Greece to Cuba.
The people around him describe him as an exceptional professional seaman with a calm and assertive communication style and great problem solving skills. He creates a professional and exciting environment to work in which encourages and motivates his crew during the season.
He is ready to share the passion for sailing with guests on the Maltese Falcon in the unique adventure which is realised with each charter.
Theodoros has a Class IV Masters Ticket unlimited, which means he can captain any boat anywhere in the world, and is an open water diver.
In his spare time you can find him either playing with new gadgets, reading or watching movies, bicycling, swimming, and playing with his four children.

Damian Smith

First Officer
British

Damian is our Chief Officer. The Maltese Falcon dominated the Perini Navi Cup 2018 with Damian as helmsman winning all three races and overall winner. Damian proudly holds a Master 3000 Captain’s license and is the Yacht’s Divemaster.
With over 10 years of experience on large sailing yachts, Damian has worked on both world class performance yachts, traditional sailing yachts and has captained in a J80 race programme. He carries significant knowledge and experience on big boat sailing systems and is in charge of the rigs, deck and bridge.
He is an excellent leader and he takes on the role of coordinating and leading our deck crew to ensure a fun and exciting environment for our charter guests, from playing with the Yacht’s toys at sea to planning day adventure trips onshore.

Kaarel Maide

2nd Officer
Estonian

Kaarel’s passion for sailing was developed from a very early age starting off with dinghy's and lasers at his local sailing
club. He then pursued sailing at a more competitive level and in 2013 won the European Championships ORCi Offshore sailing
with SY Sugar 2. He has been working professionally on superyachts since 2014 and has sailed 4 Atlantic crossings, one Pacific and one Indian Ocean, logging more than 40,000 miles. He is very skillful up the mast where he spends a lot of his time with mast maintenance.
During the charter Kaarel loves to be involved with the water sports and will help show you a great time on the water. He is also an experienced tender driver and also has PADI Open Water Diver certification.

Gregory Stathopoulos

Bosun
Greek

Gregory has more than ten years of experience with Perini Navi sailing yachts. He brings a wide skill set of yacht maintenance, which includes painting, varnishing and carpentry.
Gregory has been a Bosun on the Maltese Falcon for the third season and he takes great care in keeping the exterior of the yacht spotless, launching jet skis and water toys when guests want them and running tenders during charters.
He also enjoys diving and is currently holding the PADI's Divemaster certification and working towards becoming a fully licensed diving instructor.
Gregory enjoys sailing and is always keen to provide the best service possible with the Maltese Falcon tenders and water toys.
Gregory completed his BS in Physiology at the University of Aberdeen and then continued his education on the marine industry by completing the Yacht master offshore license and is now studying for the Officer of the Watch qualification.

Alison Hay

Chief Stewardess
Australian

Alison left her native shores of Australia in search of aquatic adventures and has circumnavigated the globe on various sized yachts. She commenced yachting in the classic yacht racing sector, has worked on over five other Perini Navi charter vessels and progressed to a variety of large motor yachts up to 120m with a yachting career spanning over 20 years.
Alison is a qualified Padi Dive Instructor and her shore based experience includes five star hotels in London, Switzerland and Australia.
When not cruising illustrious locales providing exceptional service to charter guests she enjoys overland travelling in South America, Africa, Nepal and Asia. Her passions include skiing, diving, sailing, trekking and gastronomy.

Spiros Maniatis

Chief Engineer

Spiros was born in Greece and has been onboard the Maltese Falcon for two seasons now. When not on board, Spiros lives with his family in Italy and has a great passion for engineering. He always seeks to improve the condition of the machinery onboard ensuring its smooth operation and programmed maintenance.
Spiros graduated in 2014 from the Merchant Marine Officer’s Training Centre of Piraeus and has a wealth of experience in the yachting industry as well as commercial cargo vessels worldwide.
Spiros has two lives, one as a top-level engineer on the sea and second seeking adventures in the mountains. Whether it is ascending a hill with his road bike or racing back down the canyon on the end of a rope, he is our adventure man onboard. For many years he has commanded the engineering department as Chief Engineer but wanted to enjoy the unique experience the Maltese Falcon provides.
Spiros holds an impressive unrestricted engineer’s license, which means he can approach his work with great insight and experience; if a challenge is presented a solution is found. His love of the Mediterranean lifestyle, sun and food extends to San Remo, his family’s home, where he can relax with his wife and son, practice his Italian and make the most of his photography passion.
